Empowering students of Tanzania

be a nianjema ambassador

Donate an extra $10 (or more!) now and email or facebook your friends to encourage them to donate to Nianjema as well. Nianjema Ambassadors will kick off fundraising for the Nianjema Endowment to support the children of Nianjema now and in the future. John Carney, Nianjema’s climbing champion, initiated the Nianjema Foundation with an attempt on Mt. Everest.

Attempting Mt. Everest is a challenge and, like the challenge of building a high achieving school from nothing, it takes persistence and constant renewal of effort. Carney’s first attempt to take the summit of Mt. Everest this spring was halted as accidents took the life of a valued sherpa, injuring another, and the weather worsened.

Carney, a founding member of the Tanzania Education Fund (TEF) board, will renew his efforts, continuing to support the goal of creating a lasting, $1 Million endowment to support the students of Nianjema now and in the future.

A dedicated and experienced climber, John Carney has climbed the highest peaks on each continent in the past six years and used the climbs to bring attention and donations to the Nianjema School.

To follow the reports of Carney’s climb and our drive to recruit 100,000 Nianjema Ambassadors to donate $10 each, go to our dedicated Nianjema Endowment Facebook. Tell your family and friends to do the same!

The Nianjema School provides educational opportunities for boys and girls in a region that has few options beyond elementary school. In addition to equal education, the school focuses on expanded educational opportunities including athletics and high school, participation in local economic life, and promoting the development of a community.
